Greccio is one of the itinerary strongly recommended and most suggestive of this area. An occasion to join culture and tradition with the mystic and religious aspect.
You can start your visit from the ancient town centre, with the central square recently restructures due to the Jubilee. The parochial church with its renaissance paintings dominate the suburb. Its bell tower is the old tower of the previous XI century castle whose ruins include also another tower and the original floor.
You can also visit the “San Francesco” small Chapel, in the place where, according to the tradition, the Saint revealed the area to build the near Sanctuary.

For who is interested it is already at the fifth edition the Nativity Competition, ideated by the Greccio municipality. If you don’t want to participate you can enjoy anyway the work exhibition taking place from the 8 December to the 6 January. A nice event and the occasion to spend a Sunday during the Christmas holidays.

Finally, not everybody knows that Greccio means also relax and healthcare. Among the treasures of the area there is in fact the “Fonte Lupetta” mineral waters whose therapeutic properties are deeply proved.
